The Work in Iloca

Beautifully sad. However, there is hope. Real hope comes through the Only One who can truly give it.

Many months after the earthquake and tsunami it is easy to see that there is still much work to do.

A Chilean charity called Un Techo Para Chile is actively building very basic and tiny temporary homes in the area. These homes are simply constructed with bare walls that are just not feasible for living in the very cold coastal winter that comes to the area. So one part of the work in Iloca is to insulate these homes.

As of mid-July, over 55 homes have been insulated thanks to your support of this work.

The insulation is measured, cut, and then fitted into place.

Some exterior walls are also done and then both interior and exterior are covered. The particle board application
we do on the interior walls is done with screws so the house can be dis-assembled and moved at a later date.

In addition to these homes being built by a local charity, we have also purchased and are building home kits that offer families a more permanent structure on property they currently own. Here is a look at the work that goes into this type of home.

A stilt foundation is built beneath the structure and then the footprint grid of the home is attached.

Flooring and walls then begin to appear including interior walls.

The rafters go up with interior walls and roofing.

These home are also insulated while doing all the interior electric and plumbing.

To date, 3 of these homes have been completed with 2 more very close to being done. At the end of this building phase we hope to have 11 of these homes constructed with families occupying them.

We hope this provides some insight into the work that is happening weekly out in Iloca. We are so humbled by the way so many of you responded in love to help the people of Chile after this disaster. Our local churches, teams from the states, and the locals are all coming together to get this work done.

We call that "enyugados" or yoked together.

In addition to the tangible help we have all been able to provide, we are also thrilled to share with the people the love of Jesus Christ. We are in prayer for a possible church plant in this area in the near future.

While we all sacrifice to make this work possible, He paid the ultimate price so that we may all have a permanent home in eternity! Thank you all for being obedient to our King.

Matthew 25:40 "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
