We have been both humbled and overjoyed with the outpouring of love for the people of Chile from all of you as you continue to desire to be yoked together with us in our efforts. Hundreds of people received simple necessities of life like food and water because of your efforts. We just wish there were bigger words than “thank you”; the best we can come up with is “thank you and God bless you”.
Initially our focus was on reaching people in the areas around Concepcion and Iloca who had not yet been reached with aid of any sort. We took two very successful relief trips into the Penco / Boca Sur / Coronel area around Concepcion and began what are becoming very strong ties into the Iloca community. As we move forward we will begin to focus a majority of our efforts on the seaside town of Iloca and the surrounding area.
Project Iloca
Iloca is a small fishing town that relies heavily on the sea for their work and in the summers supplements their income with tourist trade. The families in and around Iloca live at the oceans doorstep below a bluff that rises high above their homes. After the 8.8 earthquake, three large tsunami waves struck this community with the last one reaching the bluff 50 feet above the town.

Needless to say this community needs to be entirely rebuilt. We are working along with the people of this community and other relief organizations in Chile to help them out. The task is great as there is still no electricity and food supplies are coming in slowly. Over 70% of the fishing boats, motors, and nets in the fleets have been destroyed. We are entering the fall season with winter on its heels and the people will need warm housing before the rains come. So as we enter into this reconstruction phase of the relief efforts we are going to continue to need people to come alongside of us in the efforts to help Iloca.
Other Areas of Chile
Pastors Miguel from Lautaro and Tono from Los Angeles will continue to minister to the people in Chile’s regions VI, VII, VIII along with some other churches we have partnered with in the area. We would also like to petition you to be in prayer as our leadership considers new church plants in these areas where we have been ministering after the quake.

On The Ground Help
We are now prepared to receive teams to work specifically on earthquake related projects. Right now we would like to focus teams in Iloca to help with the cleanup and rebuilding.
WARNING: This type of trip will require the ability to adapt to rough living conditions. Team members will need to bring sleeping bags, tents, and air mattresses to meet their housing needs. We are also approaching the time of year where rain may play a part in our weather patterns in this area.
If your church or organization is interested in putting together a team to assist us on the ground in Chile please contact David Dwyer at ddchile@gmail. If you are an individual who is interested in coming you can also contact David for available times and the possibility of joining other teams.
