The international ministry of IberoAmerican Ministries (IAM) was founded in Chile in 1977 when a U.S. missionary couple began a home Bible study in Maipu, a suburb of the greater Santiago area. Now over 30 years later, that Bible study has expanded to include ten churches in the Santiago metropolitan region and three church plants in the southern part of Chile.

The churces in Chile include:
  • Libertad  The first church planted in Maipu, this church set the standard for the vision of
        missions of the IAM organization.
  • Los Heroes  This is the largest church of the movement and has vibrant ministries that impact
the entire community. The youth group, culto.com, is a model for youth ministries in other
communities as well. Mission teams travel annually and new missionaries are sent
out from this dynamic church to Peru, North Africa, and the Middle East.
  • Oriente  Founded in the early 1990s this church also runs a school for more than 500
children (pre-school through eighth grade). Oriente Church also participates in sending
workers to Unreached People Groups and focuses on planting churches in the
south of Chile, including the newest in Los Angeles.

  • El Encuentro  Founded in the late 1980s, this church runs a pre-school and sends mission
teams annually. They also began another church, San Luis, in a troubled area of Santiago.
  • San Luis  Founded in 1991, San Luis Church is also home to a weekly children's feeding
program. This feeding program runs six days a week through the San Luis School, built in
2004. Now serving more than 500 students, San Luis gives children a faith-and values-based
quality education. The church’s strong youth program sends teams to Ecuador and Peru yearly.
  • El Monte  This is a rural church on the outskirts of Santiago and has a vibrant youth
outreach. The youth team up with other short-term mission programs each year to share the
        Gospel across South America.
  • El Faro  This young church works in a high-need area of Maipu in conjunction with the
municipality of Maipu. A gymnasium serves as a church building as well as a home to
vocational workshops and community development projects.
  • La Farfana  One of IAM’s newest church plants in Maipu is already planting a new church
on the outskirts of Santiago. This church sends mission teams to Peru and southern
        Chile each year.
  • San Bernardo  In the south of Santiago, this is a small church that is being planted by the
principal of an IAM Christian school.
  • El Abrazo  Inaugurated in September 2007, this church was planted by
    Los Heroes.
  • Lautaro  IAM missionaries have been working with indigenous people, the Mapuche, in the
south of Chile since 2000. Today, more than 230 Mapuches are involved in the church, with
cell groups meeting weekly. Chilean missionaries are training indigenous leaders, and a
Christian Center of Integrated Development is under development in the town of Lautaro.
  • Melipeuco  At the foot of the Llaima volcano, this church is supported by the church in
Lautaro. This Church ministers to rural Mapuches as well as the urban residents of the town.
